A Reminder Of God’s Faithfulness

When we’re going through a challenge, we tend to get so focused on the problem that we forget God’s faithfulness. But if we only pause and reflect on everything that we have overcome, we may be surprised to find the almighty hands holding us all along. So today, I want to extend an invitation to pause, reflect, and be reminded of God’s faithfulness in our lives.

Great Is Thy Faithfulness

I remember an old hymn that goes,

Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning, new mercies I see
All I have needed, Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me”

I must have sung that song many times without really understanding or meditating on the meaning. Now that I’m finally facing a season where I feel like I cannot possibly have enough faith, I find myself being reminded of it.

The thing is, God has been, is now, and always will be faithful. My brain knows this when I pause to actually think about it. But the problem that I’m facing now seems to be so much bigger and so much louder. It’s when I finally step back and look at the reality that God is the creator of all things and there is NOTHING that is beyond His reach or care that I start seeing things in perspective.

And the thing is, God knows that we will fall short. He knows that we will get distracted by what we see. But the good news is that, even when we are faithless, He remains faithful. God’s faithfulness can show up in ways that we may not expect or even think of. But it will always show up.

if we are faithless,
    He remains faithful,
    for he cannot disown himself.
- 2 Timothy 2: 13 (NIV)

Let Us Pray

Heavenly Father, Thank You for remaining faithful always. Right now, I’m struggling with the faith to trust You. It seems like nothing is happening when it comes to this prayer request and I get so discouraged. I even forget all the other times that You have been faithful in my life. Remind me of how good You are and how much I’m loved by You. I repent for my lack of faith and ask that you build my faith. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
